Sunnydale Kids selected for Save the Waves Film Festival

We’re thrilled to announce that “Sunnydale Kids,” winner of “Best Short Film” at the Mill Valley Surf Film Festival, has been selected for the Save the Waves Film Festival.

We hope you will be able to join us at one of the three cities the festival is traveling to:

  • Los Angeles, California – November 8, 2013 – Majestic Crest Theatre
  • Brooklyn, New York – November 15, 2013 – Shangri La Studio
  • San Francisco, California – November 22, 2013 – Victoria Theatre

Tickets are now on sale here. This annual event – now in its 5th consecutive year – benefits the environmental programs of nonprofit Save The Waves Coalition and World Surfing Reserves.

For the first time ever, Save The Waves Film Festival is going bi-coastal to visit Los Angeles and Brooklyn before returning to its roots in San Francisco. Film festival curator Josh Berry says, “We’ve always known that both New York and Los Angeles have thriving surf communities that fit perfectly with their legendary art and music scenes. We are honored to bring Save The Waves Film Festival to these locations.”

Save The Waves Film Festival will feature the world premiere of “Se7en Signs” – the newest surfing epic from director Nathan Myers and executive producer Taylor Steele.

The film festival also features the world premiere of “Old Dog” (Viejo Perro) – a definitive history of surfing in Chile, featuring a rare collection of historic footage dating back to the 1960s woven together with contemporary big wave surfing and legendary stories from Chile’s first surfers.

Save The Waves Film Festival will also feature a signature series of short documentary films about eco-campaigns, surfing and globe trotting adventures from Micro-Documentaries, Surfing for Change, Surfrider Foundation, Project Clean Uluwatu, Waves for Water, Reach Out World Wide, Save The Waves Coalition and more.

Save The Waves Film Festival is presented by Patagonia, Clif Bar and Pacifico Beer.
