Friends,
A few of you have asked me who I am personally supporting in the efforts to stop Ebola.
This outbreak is a very tangible reminder of how interconnected we are with even the most remote villages in Liberia. The wellbeing of their children and ours are completely intertwined.
My family’s investment in the work to stop Ebola is with Paul Farmer and the phenomenal team of Partners in Health, whom we have supported for years. They are taking a leadership position in this effort, supported by the UN, the World Bank, heads of state and renowned humanitarian organizations.
Disaster relief and public health experts agree that there is a good chance of stopping the outbreak, but swift and unprecedented massive action is imperative. The disease has already taken the lives of about 3,000. Estimates are that 1.4 million could be infected by January if this sort of action is not taken. As you may know, in addition to being a terrible humanitarian crisis in West Africa, many are calling this one of the greatest dangers the human race has ever faced.
We can be a part of addressing this successfully. If you would like to contribute to them, you can donate here.
